Mindy Ackerman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has specialized in evaluating and treating juvenile and adult sex offenders for the last 27 years. She started her career working with domestic violence and sexual abuse victims and then transitioned into working with sexual offenders shortly afterward. She has worked with this specialized population in several settings, including residential placements, correctional facilities, out-patient facilities, and private practice. She has performed numerous psychosexual evaluations and served as a clinical therapist at the Florida Civil Commitment Center. She has presented trainings and workshops at various conferences around the country focusing on juvenile sex offenders’ treatment and early use of pornography. Currently she holds the position of Sex Offender Treatment Services Administrator at the Department of Juvenile Justice and is responsible for the clinical supervision of the state-wide Sexually Harmful Behavior Intervention Program. Mindy Ackerman has served as a clinical board member for the Sex Offender Risk Review Board for the last three years and is currently serving as Vice-Chair. She is also entering her third year as President of the Georgia Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse.
